Blooming Minds isn’t just another online art class, it’s a creative enrichment experience that helps pre‑teens regulate emotions, build confidence, and express themselves through art and journaling.
As a homeschooling parent of a pre-teen, I know how overwhelming it can feel to juggle structure, emotional growth, and creative enrichment especially when your child is sensitive, energetic, or working through big feelings. And when the days are full, art is often the first subject to get pushed aside in order to focus on core academics.
That’s why I created Blooming Minds: Kids Art Journaling Club. It’s a weekly online enrichment program currently designed for homeschoolers ages 9–12. This season of pre-teen life is filled with emotional growth and we offer a peaceful place to create, reflect, and connect.
This program is led by a certified Art Teacher and Art Therapy Practitioner, but it’s not therapy. Blooming Minds is a creative enrichment experience hosted through Lotus Creative Healing, designed to help children develop healthy expression habits, emotional awareness, and personal confidence through creative exploration. Built on therapeutic principles without being clinical or overwhelming. Projects are meaningful, not just decorative, and journaling is encouraged as a creative outlet throughout the week.
Note: As the community grows, Blooming Minds may expand to welcome additional age groups in the future.

How We Guide Your Child Through Each Lesson:
Each session follows a gentle, predictable rhythm designed to help your child feel safe, inspired, and free to create.
🌬 We begin grounding with a calming breath practice or light movement to help your child settle in and shift into creative focus.
🎨 Next comes the art journaling lesson. This is a guided yet open-ended activity that blends art, writing, and emotional exploration. Your child will learn new techniques while being encouraged to follow their own ideas and express what’s on their heart.
🖌 Creative work time follows, where kids are invited to play with the prompt and bring their journal pages to life. There’s no pressure to finish or “get it right” because the focus is on expression, not perfection.
💭 We wrap up with a simple reflection, encouraging your child to think about how the process made them feel and offering a prompt they can revisit during the week.
💬 After the lesson, kids are invited to share their artwork inside their private group space (with or without a parent’s help). Sharing is always optional, but it’s a beautiful way to build confidence, feel seen, and connect with other creative kids.
Every session is designed to nurture emotional growth, creative confidence, and meaningful expression!
Meet the Instructor
Aimee Combs, Founder of Blooming Minds
Hi, I’m Aimee, a homeschooling mom, certified art teacher, and passionate creative who believes in creative expression to help kids grow in confidence and emotional wellness. From one homeschooling parent to another I'm not just a teacher, I’m also a homeschooling mom to a preteen who requires consistent emotional regulation support. I created this program out of love and necessity to provide something I knew my child needed and that other families would benefit from too.
While many used to view homeschooling as isolating, I believe that narrative is shifting. Today, there are more opportunities than ever to connect with others, we just need the right spaces to do it. Blooming Minds is one of those spaces: creative, supportive, and made for families like ours.
I bring a unique blend of education, experience, and heart to every class I teach. I hold a:
Bachelor’s Degree in Art Studies
K–12 Art Teaching Certificate
Certified Art Therapy Practitioner credential
Creative Depth Coach Certificate
Registered Yoga Instructor Certification
In addition to creating Blooming Minds, I teach art at a hybrid school for homeschoolers on elective days, where I lead weekly classes for grades 3–6. I’ve also taught a variety of after-school programs including one at a school for gifted children and served as the lead art director for an art auction fundraiser at my child’s school.
As a practicing artist, my work has been selected and shown at IPCNY in New York City, exhibited at the Edinburgh Printmakers in Ireland and displayed at multiple local shows in Phoenix, including First Fridays.
Blooming Minds is the culmination of all these pieces. My teaching, my parenting, and my passion for helping kids explore the world and themselves through creativity. I’m so glad you’re here.

🎯 Why We Do It This Way:
✅ Fits Seamlessly into Your Homeschool Routine
Lessons can be watched anytime during the week, making it easy to adapt to your family’s unique rhythm and schedule.✅ Minimizes Distractions
Young artists can focus fully on creating without the nerves or overstimulation of a live, multi‑participant video and can pause, rewind, or revisit any step at their own pace. This flexibility ensures they have all the time they need to explore techniques and complete each project with confidence.✅ Creates a Calm, Safe Learning Space
Children can relax and explore their creativity freely with no pressure to appear on camera or compare themselves to classmates.✅ Supports All Personalities
Whether your child is shy, chatty, neurodivergent, or anywhere in between, they can engage at their own pace and comfort level.✅ Protects Privacy
No microphone or webcam is required adding an extra layer of online safety for you and your family. -
We’ve built a secure online community space for just that!
Each grade group has its own sharing space.
Kids can post photos of their journal pages.
They can comment, encourage, and ask questions.
Parents can support and join the conversation, too!
This balance lets your child create in peace during class and connect intentionally after class.
❤️ A Gentle Note:
We believe in honoring every child’s pace and comfort. There’s no pressure to share if they’re not ready, but if they want to, they’ll have a space where their art and voice are welcomed.
-
